Thank you for contacting the McDonnell campaign. We very much appreciate you taking the time to get in touch with us.
Bob McDonnell understands the hardships many families across the Commonwealth face as they deal with the daily struggles of raising a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
As Governor, Bob McDonnell will be committed to working with the autistic community to address their concerns and find a solution. The solution must take into consideration affordability for families and small businesses, quality care and flexibility on offering specialized, non-medical services.
Bob McDonnell is interested in looking at ideas such as establishing a tuition assistance grant program for those parents seeking specialized care for their autistic children.
As a legislator, Bob McDonnell voted yes on several pieces of legislation pertaining to autism, including requiring health insurance to provide coverage for biologically based mental illnesses which includes autism.
Thank you again for your email. Please do not hesitate to contact us again with any further questions or concerns.
What do you think? I have a lot of concerns about this response, but I will reserve dissecting it just yet as I have sent a follow up e-mail with more specific questions. When I get that back, I will start to form a more solid opinion.

I do not see anything in his response that would be of any concern. It reads like a generalized response with some inflections to prior votes that were positive to the ASD community. The response from the Deed’s campaign office will be little different other then the actions dictated will be more in line with Deed’s political affiliation.
Neither party is currently capable of offering any groundbreaking political ideas to assist the ASD community or restructuring of the bureaucratic nightmare that is Richmond, Virginia.
Oh yes, Chuck, but hope springs eternal. I guess I was hoping that Bob McDonnell was an enthusiastic at Bob Marshall in his support of our kids.
Since every governor is a one term governor, it is politically impossible for any administration to make even a small dent in all the political bureaucracies deeply embedded be all previous governor. Once a political process in Richmond is established, good or bad, it can never be removed. Can you even find a “good” process in Richmond because of all the political (inbreeding/infighting) [choose the word that you feel best describes the situation]
Just FYI, most of the time your word verification does not show [red X], so it is very difficult to post
I guess the word I would choose would be "lobbying." The lobbyists and their money seem to rule Richmond.
I will look into the comment problem. Thanks for the heads up!
