Recruiters nationwide are under pressure to hit ambitious enlistment targets this year. Pentagon statistics show that complaints about recruiting improprieties are on pace to approach record highs set in 2003 and 2004.


There's your answer right there for why these recruiters had no qualms with enlisting the kid. The majority of recruiters could care less who is going into service as long as they have all their limbs and can "press hard and sign" on the carbon paper.
